Thanks… I figured there was a good reason, just didn’t know what it was.

Lets say you have 10 scrapers. With twins you are paying for 20 motors to run. Single engine setups you are only paying for 11 motors (10 scrapers + 1 push cat). You also have the advantage of being able to effectively load much wetter material as a dozer will have way more traction then rubber tires ever will in wet dirt. On top of this you have the added versatility of being able to doze out around stakes, off edges, push out mud holes, or rip hard ground while you are waiting for scrapers.

  6. xray606 Says:

Good stuff. Just curious… If the dozers are mainly kept busy pushing the scrapers… Wouldn’t it be as cost effective to have twin motor scrapers? I’m sure there must be a reason for doing it this way.

  7. vantagetes Says:

Prevents material from building up beside the grouser and loosing traction.

why do the pads on the 11 have cutouts? like landfill machines is the soil there real clayey is packing in the undercarriage a problem.

  9. maplemanz Says:

that’s what I was looking for thanks so much!!

  10. vantagetes Says:

    Around 250.

  11. vantagetes Says:

No use for loaders, we have a couple 775s around. No 5 series, we stick with 385s.

  12. vantagetes Says:

Just like everyone else they use grade stakes (the pieces of wood with ribbons on them) to tell them how deep to cut or fill.

  13. rlewis1946 Says:

How do the scrapers and the pushCats know where and how deep to cut and where to fill?
Thanks again for these great videos!!

The 700hp D10, 770hp D11N and up are built for pushloading the 641s scrapers and up.The D9L,D10N and up are for pushing the 631,633,637 and the 639.Its nice to see a D11N actually doing this on this website

3508 with “old style” fuel system sounds great.
    3508 with “new” fuel system ( like in 992g)lost it’s rumble :(

  16. nl1cat Says:

Does Kidco has tire loaders too?
And what the biggest size off highway truck Kidco has got running?
Have they got the 5 series cat ex as well?

  17. jimbo10003 Says:

how many machines does kidco own?

  18. vantagetes Says:

That’s easy, just look at the “drawbar pull” rating. In first gear you’re looking at around 330,000 lbs of force. Second torques out at 185,000 lbs.

  19. vantagetes Says:

Same size, just has a second engine in the back so they can self load. It’s literally the exact same machine except a second engine, tranny and drive train in the back. Oh that plus a pushblock and bale in the front!

  20. CnCKane08 Says:

wow cool video man. nice work keep them coming.

  21. Makemyday0126 Says:

I thought there is a Bigger Cat scraper with two engines?

  22. rlewis1946 Says:

I’d love to have a strain gauge placed between the 531’s pusher bar and the D11’s blade to measure the force the D11 exerts on the 531… and guesses?
    Another great video!!

  23. vantagetes Says:

631s get pushed with D10, 651s get pushed with D11.

  24. vantagetes Says:

Yeah they have a very distinct rumble I love hearing, completely different from a D10.

  25. vantagetes Says:

Because they are Cat’s biggest scrapers ;)
