It must have taken the Puppeteers a lot of practice to make it look like the monster was actually eating all of those things, even though you can see a lot of it going on the floor!
I guess that just adds to the messiness of his eating habits!
it’s a skit done by Jim Henson (maker of the muppets) before he got famous. and I think it’s incredibly funny. better than his later remake of this same skit.
“In this same circuit, there is an antaglio of pneumosmatic krypton wavelengths which abrogate the hydromatic mome raths at the rate of 5 hendrical icons per microcontomaly.” Mome rath what? Henson must’ve loved Lewis Carroll (”The Jabberwocky”). He must’ve loved Tolkien (”Lord of the Rings”), too, with his reference to the Coffee Break Machine’s “gandalf antometer.”
This HAD to have been from the Ed Sullivan show … I’ve seen Jim Henson & various Muppet characters make appearances before (especially the classic “Kermit-and-the-worm-which-turns-out-to-be-a-hideous-monster” gags)
Classic!!! The ending is the best part(nothing beats an exploding muppet). Betcha Cookie Monster ain’t too proud of this,I don’t think he’d be showing this to any of his pals on Sesame Street.

I love how the machine goes on about things like ‘numismatic krypton wavelengths’ Or ‘manxome generators’
I wonder how many people know what numismatics is for example. Or get other jokes like that.
Really I could make a list… Gandalf odometer.

Frank Oz did the machine and Jim Henson did the monster.
